Organic barley groats
Barley is an excellent source of fibre and is rich in fibre, which helps to keep the digestive system working properly. Due to its high fibre and carbohydrate content, meals prepared with barley groats provide a long-lasting feeling of satiety. Therefore, this cereal can be recommended for people who are overweight or who are trying to regulate their body weight.
With its mild and natural flavour, barley groats are very versatile – they can be used to make both sweet and savoury porridges, to enrich salads, or to add a creamy texture to soups, such as mushroom soup.

Preparation method:
Wash the groats in cold water beforehand.
Bring water (or stock) to the boil.
Add the groats and reduce the heat.
Cook over a low heat for about 30-40 minutes, until the groats have softened and absorbed the liquid. If cooking in a pressure cooker, the cooking time is reduced to 15 – 20 minutes.
If necessary, add more water in the meantime.

These ratios and times may vary slightly depending on the consistency you want (lighter or thicker porridge) and the type of groats (coarser or finer).
