Organic Pu Erh Tea
Our Pu Erh tea is Shou Pu Erh tea, aged, of the highest quality, fresh, lively, with an intense and rich taste.
For the most delicious tea, use 3 g of tea (12 g/l) in 200 ml of hot water (90 C) and steep covered for 4-5 minutes, or 10 minutes for a stronger tea.
There are two types of Pu Erh tea on the market:
– Sheng Pu Erh is a naturally fermented tea aged like wine. This process takes many years (usually 5 to 10 years, sometimes longer). The longer the ageing, the more expensive the tea. The taste is milder and full of nuances.
– Shou Pu Erh is a fast-fermented tea, using a controlled industrial process that takes several months or up to 3 years. It is the most common type of Pu Erh found on the market, with an earthy flavour and darker colour.
The history of Pu-erh tea in the context of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM):
– Originating from Yunnan Province in China, Pu-erh tea has traditionally been regarded not only as a beverage, but also as a healing agent.
– It has been used by TCM to improve digestion, maintain fluid balance and detoxify.
– In TCM philosophy, Pu-erh is often associated with a warming effect that helps to balance ‘cold’ digestive disorders.
