Organic Gomasio – roasted sesame seeds with sea salt
Gomasio (or gomashio) is a traditional Japanese condiment based on toasted sesame seeds and salt. Its name comes from two Japanese words: goma (sesame) and shio (salt). Gomasio has a long history of use in East Asian cuisine, particularly in Japan, where it has been used both to enhance the flavour of food and as a healthier alternative to ordinary salt. It is valued for its ability to impart a deep, nutty flavour to food using less salt.

Gomasio is often used as a sprinkling seasoning on rice, vegetables, pasta or soups. It is also a favourite in vegetarian and macrobiotic diets due to its simplicity and nutritional value – sesame seeds are a good source of healthy fats, proteins, minerals. Due to its intense flavour, gomasio is suitable as a natural flavour enhancer, helping to reduce the overall salt intake in food.
